About

The Dawn Redwood is truly an impressive tree that dates back to the time when dinosaurs roamed freely. They are strong, fast growing deciduous trees that display brilliant color and shed their leaves in the Fall, which then grow back in the Spring. Dawn Redwoods are beautiful trees and a great addition to any large yard or park. The smallest of the three different types of Redwoods, Dawn Redwoods can typically grow to 50-60 feet tall.

Quirky Facts

During the Tertiary period, it is believed that the Dawn Redwood was once one of the most abundant trees in the Northern Hemisphere. In the early 1900s, scientists discovered fossils of this tree and concluded it had been extinct for millions of years. Then, in 1944, a forester found an enormous Dawn Redwood existing in Sichuan Province, China.

Unlike Evergreens, which we ship year-round, Seasonal trees are shipped in early to mid-Spring and again in early Fall and are sent according to your local climate and this year's weather. This is done to be sure your tree is planted at the optimal time. Also, to be sure that your seedling arrives in a strong and healthy condition, we need to ship Seasonals when they are dormant in the Spring and Fall. Send us an email to info@thelivingurn.com or call us at (800) 495-7022 with questions or for more information regarding the delivery date of your tree.
